Seven hours on a Sunday – The Dart Stuggle

As Monty Python’s Flying circus once put it, “And now for something completely different”.

The Dart Struggle is an annual event in this part of the world, a 14 km race down the River Dart from Buckfastleigh to Totnes. Arriving at the start bright and early on a sunny morning, the grass of the field form which we started had a distinctly frosty outlook. A great range of rafts on view as we lined up for the start.

The first half of the race featured shallows, white water and a fair amount of time in the water

The second half featured much more water, but brought home the lack of hydrodynamic ability of our craft.

Nevertheless, a very different way to pass seven hours on a Sunday.
